--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On April 23, 2025, students from National Chengchi University’s English for Creative and Cultural Industries course, led by Dr. Cheryl Sheridan, visited the National Theater and Concert Hall (NTCH) in Taipei. The field trip offered students a hands-on experience with Taiwan’s leading cultural performance venues.
At the National Theater, students learned about the flexible stage design, modern sound and lighting systems, and thoughtful seating that enhances audience comfort. The grand arch around the stage added a touch of elegance.
At the National Concert Hall, they were impressed by the stunning acoustics, traditional rooftop decorations, and bronze sculptures by artist Yuyu Yang. They also saw the largest mechanical pipe organ in Asia.
The tour also included a look at artistic installations, including repurposed stage panels and unique interior designs. Guided by a passionate and knowledgeable English-speaking docent, the students gained valuable insights into the intersection of art, space, and cultural management.
The trip helped connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and deepened students’ understanding of Taiwan’s creative industries.
