National Chengchi University is proud to announce the 7th Conference on College English, a stimulating and rewarding academic forum for the presentation and discussion of College English issues. Under the heading College English, we include such programs as Freshman English and ESP coursework, and indeed any program at a university or college, in which English is taught to non-native speakers.

Our principal keynote speaker, Dr. Lawrence Jun Zhang, is Associate Professor at the School of Curriculum and Pedagogy and Associate Dean International Strategic Engagement, Faculty of Education, The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prior to moving to Auckland, Dr. Zhang was a tenured associate professor at the National Institute of Education (NIE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. Dr. Zhang’s research spans psycholinguistics, metacognition, language learning strategies, reading and writing instructional design, and teacher-education. He has presented over 50 papers at international conferences and published over 100 articles, reviews, and chapters in edited books. He was the sole recipient of the TESOL Award for Distinguished Research 2010-2011 awarded by the TESOL International Association, USA. As one of the leading scholars in the field of TESOL, he has served the profession as an editorial board member for several international journals, including TESOL Quarterly, Applied Linguistics Review, Metacognition and Learning and RELC Journal.
